Supplies We Suggest
We suggest the following items:
- Sunscreen
- Rods and Reels(if not, we will supply American Rodsmiths rods with spinning reels)
- Tackle (we can supply tackle if you do not have any)
- Sunglass (preferably polarized)
- Food and drinks (it is important to stay hydrated while fishing)
- Fishing license (can be purchased at Academy, or Walmart)
Lake Information
Listed below are lakes we offer guiding for, and some information and directions to each.
Lake Travis
Lake Information:Lake Travis is a deep highland lake reservoir that is usually very clear. It is below Lake Marble Falls on the Highland Lakes chain.
Fishing Info: There is no vegetation on Travis. It is a deep, clear, rocky reservoir. The lower end is usually where you will find the clearest water. It has everything from slow sloping banks to steep walls were it is 40-50ft. deep on the shore.
Directions: Mansfield Dam is located off of FM-620.
Lady Bird Lake (AKA: Town Lake)
Lake Information: Lady Bird Lake is a river system located below Lake Austin on the Highland Lakes chain. Lady Bird is known to have monster bass in it. It is a unique river in that no motors are allowed, so the only people there are kayakers and rowers.
Fishing Info: Lady Bird Lake can be good year round, it is an awesome river system loaded with big fish. It has many bridges that run through downtown Austin, which can hold fish. There are thousands of laydowns littering the shore, providing lots of visible cover to cast to.
Lake Stillhouse Hollow
Lake Information: Stillhouse Hollow is a rocky reservoir located in Killeen, TX. It has a little bit of everything, grass, timber, rocks, and flats. The grass was killed in the flood, but is growing back.
Lake Bastrop
Lake Information: Lake Bastrop is small power plant lake located in Bastrop, TX. Like Fayette, the water temps can be hot during winter due to the discharge area.
Fayette County Reservoir
Lake Information: Fayette County Reservoir is a power plant lake located in La Grange, TX. It has some of the hardest fighting fish in the Central Texas area. Due to the power plant, water temps can stay in the mid 90's near the Discharge, even on the coldest winter days. It is an outstanding fishery with good, quality bass year round.
